Yes, good biorgaphies can teach us alot about theology. I was particularly blessed by Palmer’s biogrphy of James H. Thornwell in this regard.

Spurgeon says that the first gift a person interested in the ministry should look for is personal holiness. There was a good bit of that in James Durham as is evident from these anecdotes. Studying the life of a humble Christian man is good preparation for the ministry. Good Christian biographies can be great theological treatises.
